I love to pick up cheap plain glass vases from my local supermarket and turn them into something with a bit more va va voom. Here’s my latest. I used some wool that I had dyed using food colouring in green, turquoise and yellow. I also incorporated pieces of sari silk, silk embroidery threads (as single strands felted in), mulberry silk, wensleydale curls, nepps and other fibres. I then embroidered it with silk and silver threads. To me it feels reminiscent of a Monet painting with its undefined qualities suggesting flowers and plants.
When there are no flowers in it, it looks really beautiful illuminated with a tea light inside. The colours really glow and all the textures of the fibres are revealed.
Gorgeous!
